Tomatoes come in all sorts of colors, although what we are accustomed to seeing is just red and yellow. Tomatoes come in black, purple, orange, pink, variegated, white, yellow, red and green. Yes, it's true... green tomatoes do not always refer to unripened tomatoes. A couple very popular varieties include a green striped tomato called Green Zebra and a green tomato with a pink blush called Aunt Ruby's German Green. Green tomatoes have a rather spicy, mild flavor. Of course, if you want traditional fried green tomatoes, you may prefer to use an unripened fruit, since a ripened tomato won't stand up to the heat in the skillet as well.

You can find the seeds from most seed companies. when you do your search online, you will sure find alot of places to choose from. Just remember that is very hard to find green tomatoes seedling in the market. its recommend to create a seedbed inside

Find out when your last expected frost date is. You want to plant your seeds in a good quality sterile seed growing mix at least 6 to 8 weeks before that date. Go through your seeds and separate them. Sometimes they stick together during packing. Plant more seeds than you think you'll need. Not all the seeds will germinate, and you can always give some seedlings away to friends and family.

These seeds grow just like any other tomato plant. Plant them " deep in apot, you should water them with as little water as you can. The trick is to keep them moist.Green tomatoes seeds germinate best when the soil is around 75⁰ F and 90⁰ F. You may want to cover the seeds with aplastic hood to help with the germination

When the seeds has sprout, adjust the temperature slightly to 60⁰F and 70⁰F.You need also to expose the seedling to sufficient light, this will stop them from getting leggy.Put your tomato on the window facing south.if you donot have the south window , invest in a spectrum fluorescent light and put it inches bove the pot

When the seeds have sprouted for the second to third time. you have to transplant them in a pot that is 4".

The plants will need to harden off, before they can be transplanted outdoors. In order to do this, you simply set them outdoors during the daytime for several hours and then bring them back inside. After about a week, you can extend the time they are outdoors. Eventually, they will become accustomed to being outside. At night, you will need to protect the plants. Once the plants are fully accustomed to being outdoors, you can then plant them in a garden. You will need to put up some type of supports around the plants if they are a type that grows tall.

Now you can plant them outside . Use a tomato cage on your plant.
