What Do You Know About the Wonderful Uses of Vinegar?

If you don't currently include apple cider vinegar or traditional balsamic vinegar in your general diet, you may want to consider it's many uses. You will soon learn about the numerous advantages and uses of vinegar you may never have considered or known about.

First and foremost, don't confuse natural vinegar with the man-made synthetic ethyl-alcohol vinegar. This unnatural imposter has zero nutrition value and this author does not recommend it for human consumption.

Airborne bacteria known as "acetobacter aceti" create vinegar when they come into contact with liquids having less than 18% alcohol content.

The earliest references to vinegar are found in the writings of the ancient Sumerians (widely thought to be the world's earliest civilization). They used it as a general tonic, a condiment, an anti-biotic, a detergent and preservative amongst other uses.

You will discover some wonderful things about the world of natural vinegars. A world where fine vinegar labels are read like fine wine labels.

Two Popular Vinegars - Apple Cider and Balsamic Vinegar

Apple-cider vinegar is probably the best known natural vinegar. It is inexpensive and can be used in recipes and for the general purposes mentioned throughout this article.

All natural vinegars have beneficial uses but not all vinegars are created equal. Gourmet vinegars have been favored by royalty for many centuries.

The balsamic vinegars "aceto balsamico" date back to 1046 AD. Modeno, Italy is the birthplace of this rich tasting vinegar.

The recent increased interest in balsamic vinegar has most likely been brought about by the varied creations that include the slightly sweet flavored and rich flavored vinegar.

The Many Beneficial Uses for Vinegar

1. Salad Dressing. The gourmet vinegars make a very fine salad dressing.

2. Mold Elimination. Prevent mold producing bacteria by wiping down jars of preserves and canned foods with vinegar.

3. Skin Burns. Apply ice cold vinegar as quickly as possible after the injury. It will also prevent burn blisters and diminish scarring.

4. Remove stains from stainless steel and chrome with a vinegar-dampened cloth.

5. Mildew Elimination. It will eliminate mildew, dust and odors when vinegar-soaked cloth is used to wipe down walls, cabinet shelves and other similar surfaces.

6. Poaching Eggs. Add a teaspoon of apple-cider vinegar to the water to prevent separation.

7. Pet Food Additive. Add it to your pets' drinking water: to eliminate body odor and encourage shiny coats.

While we only covered two of the most popular types of vinegar, apple cider vinegar and balsamic vinegar, there are many more varieties. Start reading more about vinegar uses and you will be amazed at it's history and usefulness.
